Questions about official Allegheny County criminal records must go to the public office that keeps the requested file. The routes below distinguish court cases, jail records, local police reports, and Pennsylvania State Police repository checks.

This Is Not a Government Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot pull criminal records, run official background checks, remove or correct a record, or accept expungement filings for anyone. For any of those, you need to reach the right government office directly.

Need an Official Record?

Use the custodian that matches the Allegheny County record:

  • Court case files: see criminal court case records, or contact the clerk of the court that heard the case
  • Criminal records and repository responses: contact Pennsylvania State Police or use PATCH
  • Arrest, booking, and jail records: call Allegheny County Jail at 412-350-2000; former-incarcerated-person records route to 412-350-2635
  • Official name checks: order through Pennsylvania State Police PATCH
  • Police reports and incident records: contact the agency that wrote the report
  • Expungement and Clean Slate questions: use the court that handled the case and the Department of Court Records

For filed county criminal cases, contact the Allegheny County Department of Court Records, Criminal Division, Room 220, 436 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219, 412-350-5322. Current files and public terminals are available there during the published weekday counter hours; older files may require off-site retrieval. Staff explain access procedure but do not provide case information by telephone.
